For a variable $TA, the following will extract the mantissa and exponent for scientific notation:

$TAman = $TA/10^$TAexp
This can then be formatted with latex: \($TAman \times 10^{$TAexp}\).

Normally, when writing a Maple-graded question, a function such as MathML[ExportPresentation](...) is used to format the answer. To use custom LaTeX formatting, use e.g. printf("\\(x^2 + 3\\)") as the correct answer, remembering to escape backslashes (e.g. \\cos as opposed to \cos).
